As a result of the ongoing sociopolitical crisis in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions, many young mothers and single mothers have been internally displaced. Living in precarious economic conditions, these women often find themselves excluded from mainstream vocational training and employment opportunities, making it difficult to support themselves and their children.
In response, CASuDev launched an empowerment project targeting internally displaced young and single mothers, with the aim of providing them with practical and entrepreneurial skills to develop income-generating activities (IGAs) and move toward financial independence.
To strengthen the technical and entrepreneurial capacities of 300 internally displaced young and single mothers.
To provide hands-on training in the production of liquid soap, bleach, natural agricultural inputs (compost, plant-based pesticides), and local poultry farming.
To promote economic empowerment through skills development and the encouragement of environmentally responsible micro-enterprises.
The first training session took place on February 6, 2025, at the Vocational Training Center (CFPM) in Dschang. It brought together 25 beneficiaries, selected in collaboration with partner organizations such as DECENTAS, AFLUD, and CIBAEEVA.
The session covered:
Each participant left the training with sample products and an official certificate of participation, handed out by Mrs. NGOUPEYOU Solange, departmental delegate of the Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS), and the director of CASuDev.
This project offers a concrete solution to female economic vulnerability, while also promoting local, sustainable practices. It is part of a long-term strategy to train 300 beneficiaries over several sessions, in collaboration with local authorities and civil society organizations.
Some participants, such as Margaret T., have already begun producing and selling their own products. She now displays her work at CASuDev’s local outlet.
This initiative is implemented with the support of MINAS, local civil society organizations (DECENTAS, CIBAEEVA, AFLUD), volunteer contributions, and skilled local trainers.
CASuDev welcomes all forms of technical and financial partnerships to expand this meaningful project to additional communities.
